introductions please!

the password to my previous knitting blog kind of pulled a houdini on me, so instead of breaking my neck to locate the sticky note that it was listed on, i decided to just start fresh.

anyways, i figured i should start out with some lovely banter all about myself, because i’m just that self-absorbed:

my name is kelsey, and i’m a 10th grader at a public high school in ohio.  i’ve been knitting for about four years, but i’ve only been like hardcore-religious-obsessive-never-without-a-WIP kind of knitting for like a year or so.  i do other things too, such as cheerleading, band, drama club, student government, national honor society, and pretty much every other club that i can possibly get into at school.  and no, i’m not busy at all!

and if anyone actually reads this, then don’t be surprised if i go a few days (weeks, months..) without posting because there are seriously days where i go to school at 6:30am and don’t get home until like 9:30pm due to meetings or rehearsals or, (using the next two weeks as an example) driving school.  i don’t really mind it that much, accept for the lack-of-sleep i experince all too often, i just wish i had more time to knit.

oh, right, knitting.  yes, this is a knitting blog, isn’t it?

right now i’m kind of alternating between two WIPS (works in progress):

the Geometric felted bag (my own design)

(made from 100% Purivian Highland Wool from Elanne.com)

and my Texas Longhorn lap-gan (also my own design).

(made from Encore acrylic/wool blend)

i’m trying to get both finished by easter, but i doubt i’ll be able to do it.  the lap-gan needs to be finished for sure because it’s a gift for my uncle, whom i will see at easter, so that’s the absolute deadline i’m looking at for this one.

i also just placed an order on knitpicks.com less then 15 minutes ago for some Shine Sport for Sheldon, and some Felici Self Striping yarn to make my first pair of socks, possibly using Silver’s Sock Class.  plus, i ordered the new Harmony DPNs Set for sock making :)

i’m super excited for my yarn to get here, so i can start using DPNs for the first time. i have a pair of size 10 1/2s that i got at my LYS but i havent yet used them for anything besides icords, which is what i originally bought them for for a pattern.  they’ll come in handy for icords ’cause they’re like the perfect size, so it was worth it.

speaking of, i think i might go work on my longhorn lap-gan before it gets too late into the afternoon.  i have some other things i have to get done before i can go out with some friends tonight, so knitting has to come first. :)

Hi, Kelsey. I haven’t even been hardcore knitting for a year yet, so we’re pals in that! I seriously admire people who design things. I’m not that adventurous, not yet. Although I have so much inspiration sometimes, I wish I had the talents to translate it into design.

We’re sharing the same template, btw! I’m going to add you to my blogroll so that I can check out your posts and stuff.

That bag is wonderful! Are you planning on publishing the pattern?
